We are thrilled to share the joyous success of our recent collaboration with the South African Guide-Dogs Association in celebration of their 70th year! Thanks to your overwhelming support, Annalize du Toit Optometrists was able to contribute R50.00 from each driver’s license screening test to this incredible cause.
In a letter of appreciation received from the South African Guide-Dogs Association, we were touched to learn how our collective efforts are making an impact in providing independence, mobility, and companionship to those with visual, physical, or developmental needs.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without each one of you who participated in our campaign. Your commitment to this cause demonstrates the strength of our community and our shared values. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us make a difference!
Donations to the South African Guide-Dogs Association are still welcome!
WHAT WE DO
We take pride in our comprehensive eye care services to our patients, utilizing advanced diagnostic technology and a team-based approach.
At our Optometry practice, we offer comprehensive eye examinations to help you maintain healthy eyes and optimal vision. Our experienced Optometrists will perform a thorough exam that includes a range of tests and assessments to evaluate the health of your eyes and identify any vision problems.
As behavioral Optometrists we do comprehensive children’s examinations that include eye movements, focus ability, colour vision, depth perception, eye alignment and eyesight at far and near distances and providing visual therapy when necessary. We also use a team-based approach to help children to improve their reading and scholastic skills.
At our Optometry practice, we specialize in children’s eye examinations to help detect and treat vision problems that can affect their development and learning. Our experienced Optometrists are trained to work with children of all ages, from infants to teenagers, and provide a comfortable and friendly environment that puts children at ease. We use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and techniques to assess children’s visual acuity, eye tracking, and coordination, and screen for common eye conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (crossed eyes). We also offer a wide range of eyeglasses and contact lenses specifically designed for children. With our children’s eye examination, you can help your child achieve their full potential by ensuring that their vision is healthy and functioning properly.
At our Optometry practice, we offer SGDA dyslexia evaluations to help identify and diagnose types and grade level of dyslexia, that can affect reading, writing, and learning abilities. Our experienced Optometrists will conduct a comprehensive eye exam, including visual perceptual and motor skills assessments, to evaluate the presence of visual processing issues that can cause difficulties with reading comprehension and other academic tasks. We use the SGDA diagnostic tool to accurately assess the type and grade level of Dyslexia and to provide targeted treatment recommendations to address specific needs. With our SGDA dyslexia evaluation, you can get the answers you need to improve your learning outcomes and achieve academic success what your child deserves. The SGDA dyslexia evaluation is approved by the Department of Education and HPCSA.
At our Optometry practice, we offer professional spectacle adjustments to ensure that your glasses fit comfortably and securely. Our experienced opticians will take the time to properly adjust the nose pads, temple arms, and frame shape to your unique facial features, ensuring maximum comfort and optimal vision. Whether your glasses are slipping down your nose, causing discomfort behind your ears, or simply not sitting straight, we can make the necessary adjustments to improve their fit and performance. With our expert spectacle adjustments, you can enjoy clearer, more comfortable vision every day.
An Irlen Screening takes about 30-60 minutes. A Certified Irlen Screener is specially trained to provide perceptual Irlen overlay screening to see if the patient possibly has Irlen Syndrome. Irlen tints can improve reading, maths, handwriting, attention/focus, fluency in reading, comfort during visual and computer tasks, and calm your sensory overload.
Irlen Screenings provide information and awareness of sensory processing disorder symptoms and their possible causes, which can mildly or severely impact a child or adult, and may be traced genetically for generations, across family members, from childhood or due to an illness or injury.
Many children have a condition called myopia (near-sightedness). As a child grows, the eyes of a child with myopia become longer over time, which causes distant objects to appear blurry. And, if it’s not addressed, myopia often worsens as your child gets older. Myopia can be due to genetics and your lifestyle. Spending more time on close activities like reading and digital devices coupled with less time outdoors increases the likelihood of developing myopia. As accredited Myopia Management Optometrists, we can provide the right myopia control optical lenses or contact lenses.
Whether or not your child complains of not being able to see objects in the distance clearly – such as the board at the front of their classroom – they should have annual comprehensive eye exams to check for myopia and other eye conditions that may not have signs or symptoms.
We know that good vision is more than just having good sight. We see you and want you to see the Bright Sight.
